Objective To investigate the status of the development and industrialization of the medical polymers used for the medical devices industry of the Beijing city,and to explore the opportunities and challenges for the development of this field. Methods From 2014 to 2016,by combining with the specialty study,the teachers and students of School of Materials Science and Engineering,Beijing Institute of Technology cooperated with the Zhongguancun medical device industry alliance,and carried out an intensive investigation activity. During the above process,the medical materials related companies,research institutes,experts and scholars,and the industry associations were all surveyed via the mode of questionnaire,visiting,production practice and discussion,etc. And then the investigation data were analyzed deep. Results The investigation sorted out the problems and the solutions during the process of development and industrialization of the medical polymers used for the medical devices industry of the Beijing city,including the research and application of the new polymers,the technology development and innovation,and the personnel training. And then the suggestions and comments to accelerate the industrialization of the medical polymers were proposed. Conclusions The investigation provides a guidance suggestion for the development and industrialization of the medical polymers used for the medical devices industry of the Beijing city.
