The hemolysis of a blood pump depends on the flow field, so that investigating the spiral flow performance of human blood in the inner of blood pump is very important for designing and studying the spiral pump. By combining the hemorheology theory and traditional mechanical analysis method, the characteristics of spiral flow blood in annular space both at low and high shear rates were studied, and the expresses of velocities were presented. The influences of several parameters on the flow performance were also analyzed. Furthermore, the mechanical behavior of red blood cells in high speed spiral flow field was investigated. The results indicate that the blood flow situation in high-speed spiral flow field was very complicated. During designing the high-speed spiral blood pump, the blood flow performances in different shear rates and the mechanical behaviors of red blood cells should be considered.
