The study on the creep mechanical properties of normal and avascular necrosis of the femoral head(ANFH) is necessary for artificial joint research and joint replacement. In this paper, we measured the creep values of femur. Sixteen experimental fresh femurs were taken from 8 normal male people, aged from 22 to 28 years old, and from 8 male patients, aged from 28 to 56 years old, after artificial joint replacement. Under temperature (36.5±0.5)℃, each specimen was tested with Daojin electronical experimental machine when the acceleration of stress was 0.5MPa/s. In total 7200s period, one hundred experimental data were collected and used for drawing the creep curves and processing the creep parameter. The experiments indicated the creep velocities of all samples were quicker in the early 600s period, and it became slow later until immovably at 7200s. During 7200s, the maximum creep value of pathological femoral head was 0.61%, that was lower than 0.85% of the normal femoral head(P<0.05). It is proved that the creep parameter changes after femoral head femoral head is necrotic.
