Chitin is a kind of organic compound which output is only inferior to the cellulose, and its product of chitosan possesses the fine biologic and chemical properties. Additionally the physicochemical property of chitosan varies through changing its polymerization and deacetylation degrees or  being modified. At present chitosan are wildly used in bio-medical and health care fields. And chitosan preparations of various molecular weights, degrees of deacetylation and with further molecular derivatization patterns have attracted much attention because of their potentially beneficial biological properties. This paper first introduces the nature and function of chitosan and its derivative, which are related to hemostasis, and it is indicates that chitosan can be utilized as hemostasis materials widely. After that the research status of chitosan and means of production for chitosan hemostasis derivative are illustrated. Finally this paper presents the future trend of absorbable chitosan hemostasis would dressing.
