Objective An implantable radio-telemetry system based on wireless power transmission technology is designed for long-term monitoring animal physiological parameters continuously. Methods The system contains wireless power transmission device, implantable miniature electronic capsule, data logger and data processing software. The capsule is only 13.06 mm×30.90 mm in size and weights 6.38 g with approximately 150 mW power consumption. Results The simulation experiment proves that the system is able to detect ECG,body temperature and blood pressure. One New Zealand rabbit is used in the vivo experiment, the detected body temperature is from 37.2℃ to 37.3℃ with 0.1℃ baseline noise and the detected blood pressure is from 74 mmHg to 83 mmHg with 3 mmHg baseline noise. Conclusions The proposed implantable radio-telemetry system, which is used for monitoring the animal physiological parameters based on wireless power transmission technology,is able to monitor the electrocardiograph (ECG),body temperature and blood pressure of animals.
