The dielectric spectroscopy for cell suspension is a rapid, real-time, nondestructive method for the quantitative research on the physical properties of cell, which is of great significance in the process of studying cell components and cell life activities.Cell is one of the most suitable systems for dielectric spectroscopy research because of the structure and composition. With the frequency increased, the dielectric spectroscopy of cell suspension shows three main dielectric relaxation known as the α, β and γ dispersion. The information of cell components and activities could be achieved by analyzing these dielectric relaxations. Moreover, the development of the cell model for dielectric parameters helps the research of dielectric spectroscopy for cell suspension deepen to the subcellular level, with gaining more detailed information for cell components and activities. In this review article, the dielectric behavior of cells, the detection, analysis and application of dielectric spectroscopy for cell suspension are summarized briefly.
