Sacroiliac joint leads to back pain. Finite element method (FEM) has become one of the important research methods for such complex organ. By summarizing the development of FEM in the sacroiliac joint modeling and clinical application research in biomechanics, pain mechanisms and intra-articular fixator, this paper analyzes shortcomings of the current finite element model. Directions and methods of the 3D FEM model for sacroiliac joint with high-precision, high automatization and more adaptability to clinical situation is also proposed.
